Arid Blooms: A Spring Equinox Writing Experience in Caroline Park
Voices of Gathering
Arid Blooms
“…a green skin
growing over what winter did to us
a return
to the strange idea of continuous living despite
the mess of us, the hurt, the empty. Fine then…”
– Ada Limón
Join us as we ponder springtime flowering and the promise of renewal and rebirth amidst our fleetingly green landscape. The native Maara’yam (Serrano) people believe all was living, including earth and stones, and this land has much to share with us about the vibrance, persistence, and tenacity of life. We will gather in silence, open with a grounding meditation and a writing prompt, and walk the trails of Caroline Park in Redlands, CA. We invite you to spend some time writing with us as you contemplate the beauty and energy that explodes in the chaparral with the gift of rain. Afterward, feel free to linger and watch the sunset or to continue your writing. The park closes at dusk.
This writing experience is appropriate for all writing levels and is an opportunity to work through poetry or short work.
